Looking for Less in a World of More

Hello, friends!

Rituals and Resolutions. I have long since abandoned the “New Year, New me” mentality and have all but given up on a carefully curated list of resolutions I will inevitably forgo and forget before the first month of the new year comes to a close. I have, however, found myself reflecting on a yearly ritual that I can’t seem to quit: the hunt for the perfect planner.

Each January, I meticulously compare covers and features, weighing options that promise goal-crushing greatness, artistic inspiration, and even astrological insights. For a few overly ambitious weeks, I dive headfirst into prompted pages, charting self-care routines and plotting pathways to a “better me.” But inevitably, my dazzling new planner joins a familiar graveyard of nearly empty notebooks and to-do lists that never made their way to to-done.

This year started much the same. I scrolled through endless planner options from my favorite shops, added more than a few to my online cart(s), then promptly moved them to “save for later.” But fate intervened—no fancy planner needed—when, on a pre-planned bookstore visit (that I made on time, without the help of a fancy planner!), I discovered a beautifully simple, no-frills planner reminiscent of my middle school days (Go Knights!).

No bells. No whistles. No motivational quotes or “budget better” challenges (even though a goal of mine is to, in fact, budget better). Just a clear monthly overview, a list of important dates, and plenty of space to jot down daily plans. And you know what? I’ve experienced a new kind of organizational excitement—not because I feel obligated to fill the pages, but because opening it feels easy, not overwhelming. There’s no pressure to fill every page with perfect habits or profound reflections or weekly challenges for self-care. It keeps me organized and, at the end of the day, that’s all I really need.

In a world that constantly screams at us to do more, achieve more, be more—sometimes the sweetest success is found in doing less. Here’s to simpler solutions and savoring life’s little moments – planned and unplanned - in 2026!

Wishing you a year of less of the noise and more of life's simpler joys,

-       Kaitlin

Bloom and Bound Beginnings!

When I started Bloom and Bound Publishing House, it was out of necessity, honestly. In order to publish my book, I decided to go the Indie publishing route, and that meant I needed a publishing house
