A Note from the author...​

I'm Kaitlin!

My name is Kaitlin, author of The Pup with the Heart-Shaped Nose. In order to understand the importance of this book and how truly special it is to me, I feel compelled to give a backstory.

In May 2022, my husband unexpectedly passed away. Six-months later, our dog would tragically pass away as well. In the depths of my grief and despair, I struggled to get out of bed and find enjoyment in the things I once had. One morning, the clearest, calmest voice woke me, telling me it was time to get a new dog. I laughed, shook my head and attempted to fall back asleep. I couldn't shake the feeling that the voice may be on to something and the following days were filled with looking at dog after dog from local animal shelters. Becoming increasingly discouraged, I almost ended my search but, at the very last moment, I saw him . . . the pup with the heart-shaped nose who would save my life. This book is a love letter and a thank you note to the dog who has made my life infinitely better from the moment he entered it. You always hear the cliche phrases about saving rescue dogs lives and have likely seen the "who rescued who" stickers, but there is no doubt in my mind that Decimus truly saved my life - in every way possible. He opened my heart to love and introduced me to a life I no longer thought possible. Because of him, I am who I am, and no amount of words (or books written about/dedicated to him) will be able to adequately thank him for all he has done for me!
